450,000
That’s the number of children who will benefit from more than 1,500 nationwide dental service events through the Give Kids a Smile program.
The American Dental Association (ADA) began the Give Kids A Smile program in 2003 as a way for dentists to join with others in the community to provide dental services to underserved children. On Give Kids a Smile Day (February 7) and throughout the year, dentists and other team members will volunteer their time to provide screenings, treatment and education to children throughout the United States.
Here in Arizona it is no different. In fact, the ADA has awarded nearly a dozen Arizona oral health-related organizations with dental kits from Henry Schein and Colgate for local Give Kids a Smile events. Recipients include:
- Mohave Community College Dental Clinic
- Every Kid’s Dentist (Laveen, Phoenix and Surprise locations)
- El Rio Community Health Center
- Rio Salado Dental Clinic
- Desert Mission John C. Lincoln Dental Clinic
- Ahn & Perez DDS
Information on each organization’s Give Kids a Smile event is not available at this time, so please contact them directly for details.
Another great way to participate in Give Kids a Smile Day is to make a contribution to the ADA Foundation’s Harris Fund for Children’s Dental Health. If you’d like to make a local contribution instead, you can make a donation to the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation.
