The Health Care Heroes Awards are given to nominated individuals in the health care community who have demonstrated exemplary performance in all areas of health and wellness. As a premier sponsor of the awards, Delta Dental of Arizona is proud to have the opportunity to present the award for the dental category at the August 29 celebration at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale.
All of the nominees deserve awards for their oral health work in the community, but the judges were tasked with the difficult job of choosing the 2013 dental category finalists:
- John Chen is the director of dental health services for Maricopa Integrated Health Systems. Dr. Chen was nominated because he has an outstanding commitment to dentistry that he shows through teaching and giving dental work to those less fortunate. He is involved in statewide and national dental associations as well.
- The Central Arizona Dental Society Foundation nine-member Board of Trustees successfully helped over 1,000 less fortunate patients at Arizona’s first Dental Mission of Mercy. They pulled together 300 dentists and 900 volunteers to help provide dental care to those who can’t otherwise afford it.
- Ann Benson Ross is the owner of Mobile Dentistry of Arizona. Ann gambled her retirement fund to start Mobile Dentistry of Arizona. She saw a growing need for a dental practice on the move especially for patients with limited mobility or diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.
