DDAZ Foundation Scores a Home Run at Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event

On July 28, the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation welcomed 145 volunteers and their families to its annual Volunteer Appreciation Day at Chase Field.

The day got off to an early start with the gates opening at 11 a.m. After our volunteers filtered in and happy hellos echoed in the air, we hurried to the Sandlot to catch the “Sunday Slugger Show,” a tobacco prevention program for children sponsored by Delta Dental of Arizona. The show features hosts Vanessa and Mike, along with Baxter the Bobcat and organist Bobby Freeman. During the show, the group delivered oral health messages, promoted the No Chew Crew and interviewed a player who’s pledged to be tobacco-free.

After the “Sunday Slugger Show,” volunteers enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers beverages and cookies in the Legends Suite while watching the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the San Diego Padres. Delta Dental of Arizona and Foundation Board members and senior leadership also attended the volunteer appreciation event. However, the guest of honor was Baxter, who playfully threw popcorn on unsuspecting guests and posed for photographs.
