Mouth Healthy Recipe: Watermelon Slushies

We all know how miserable Arizona summers can be. That’s why we found this mouth-healthy slushie recipe! This is a delicious, healthy treat to help keep you cool this summer. This recipe couldn’t be any easier, but be warned: it needs to freeze for two or more hours, so be sure to plan ahead!

Ingredients

  • 10 cups 1-inch seedless watermelon pieces (3 pounds)
  • 1⁄4 cup lime juice, squeezed from 2 limes
  • 2 tablespoons Simple Syrup
  • 1⁄8 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1
On a large plate, spread 5 cups watermelon pieces into a single layer. Place in the freezer and freeze until firm, about 2 hours.

Step 2
Add lime juice, simple syrup, salt, and the remaining 5 cups of unfrozen watermelon to a blender jar. Place the lid on top of the blender and hold the lid firmly in place with a folded dish towel. Turn on the blender and process until smooth, about 30 seconds. Stop blender.

Step 3
Add frozen watermelon pieces to the blender. Replace the lid on top of the blender and hold the lid firmly in place with a folded dish towel. Turn on the blender and process until thick and slushy and no large chunks remain, 30 to 60 seconds. Stop blender.

Step 4
Pour into glasses. Serve immediately.

To spice it up, you can add a small amount of salt or tajin on the rim. Sweet, refreshing, and mouth-friendly!
