Dr. Martin Wolff at Surprise Smiles with staff members

We’d like to introduce you to Delta Dental dentist Dr. Martin Wolff of Surprise Smiles in Surprise. Surprise Smiles is part of Bradshaw Family Dental and offers a wide range of dental services to patients of all ages.

What made you decide to become a dentist?

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. I went on a mission trip to Haiti with a dentist and became interested in dentistry. When I returned from the mission trip, I shadowed that dentist and applied to dental school!

What is your specialty/area of interest?

General dentistry, with a special interest in endodontics.

Do you brush and floss as much as you recommend?

Brushing, yes. Flossing, probably not.

What is your favorite flavor toothpaste?

Clean mint.

Electric or manual toothbrush (for yourself and recommended for patients)?

Electric for myself and my patients. If a patient is against using an electric toothbrush, then I recommend a soft-bristled manual toothbrush.

Which celebrity has the best smile and why?

Simon Cowell because he can keep a bright smile on his face while dishing out harsh criticism.

If you could tell patients to stop doing one thing, what would it be?

I would tell patients to stop getting metal tongue rings because they can break their teeth.

What is the best dental advice you’ve ever received?

Always manage patient expectations.

What is the best thing about being a Delta Dental dentist?

We get a lot of referrals through Delta Dental. My office staff always talks about how great the customer service is too.

What is your favorite joke?

What is a tree’s favorite 80s rock band?

-Styx

Do you have any funny stories from the dentist’s chair?

A young man told me he had to use the restroom and I asked him to wait just a minute. When he eventually got up, the chair was wet. I was surprised but didn’t want to make a big deal about it. When he came back, I realized he didn’t have an accident but, he had his water bottle in his hoodie pocket and it had leaked everywhere!

What are three things that always make you smile?

  1. My wife
  2. Dad jokes
  3. Puppy videos

March is National Nutrition Month. What is your favorite tooth-healthy snack?

Celery and string cheese are both great snacks for your smile.

If you were stuck on a desert island, what three items would you bring?

  1. My wife
  2. A hammock
  3. Red Baron Pizza

In her spare time, she can be found exploring new hiking trails with her German Shepherd, Rocky, or training for her next half-marathon. She is grateful to have found her way to DDAZ and loves supporting the mission and vision of the company. Cassie was lucky enough to not only have braces as a child, but to also wear Invisalign for several years as an adult, so her passion for a healthy smile goes well beyond her workplace role.
